A new tree in the Friendship Park

The Friendship Park has acquired another tree. It is a red horse chestnut that was planted today at the request of the Kulturbrücke Hamm-Kalisz association. Coronavirus-related restrictions prevented German partners from coming and planting a tree in person.

The tree is a surprise gift for Wolfgang Komo, who has been the treasurer of the association for 15 years and the long-term organizer of the school exchange between the  Adam Asnyk Highschool and Gymnasium Hammonense, since 2016 Honorary Friend of Kalisz. The tree grows in the area behind the playground. The Kulturbrücke Hamm-Kalisz association covered the costs of purchasing and planting the tree and of a commemorative plaque with the following content:

Red horse chestnut (Aesculus x carnea)
