Revitalization area

At the XXV session of the Kalisz City Council, which took place on June 21, 2016, the city councillors adopted a resolution to designate a degraded area and a revitalization area in the City of Kalisz.

In the Revitalization Act a degraded area is treated as an area in a crisis situation due to the concentration of negative social phenomena, in particular unemployment, poverty, crime, low level of education or social capital, as well as insufficient participation in public and cultural life. In addition, a degraded area must also be characterized by the presence of at least one of the following negative phenomena: economic or environmental or spatio-functional or technical. The area encompassing the whole or a part of the degraded area, characterized by a particular concentration of negative phenomena referred to above, and also because of its significant importance for local development, can be designated as a revitalization area. The designation of the revitalization area took place after diagnosis and social consultations with the inhabitants of Kalisz.

The revitalization area covers the area limited by: Gen. Władysław Sikorski Avenue, Warszawska Street, Winiarska Street, Ciepła Street, north-western border of the plot No. 2/20 (precinct 033 Tyniec) located in the Municipal Stadium, Bernardyński Canal, the Prosna River, Amber Route, Nowy Świat Street, Harcerska Street, Poznańska Street, Wojska Polskiego Avenue. The area of revitalization covers the area of 2.59 km2 (3.73% of the area of Kalisz) and is inhabited by 18.027 inhabitants (19.90% of all inhabitants).
