Delegations from twin cities attend commemorative meeting of Kalisz City Council
At the invitation of Kalisz Mayor Krystian Kinastowski, our city had the pleasure of hosting delegations from several of our partner cities: Hamm (Germany), Hautmont (France), Martin (Slovakia), Preston (UK), Kamianets Podilskyi (Ukraine), along with a representative from Visit Wallonia (Belgium).
Before the commemorative meeting of the Kalisz City Council, the visiting delegations explored the Maria Dąbrowska Manor in Russów. This visit held special significance as part of the Year of Maria Dąbrowska celebrations, honoring the acclaimed writer with strong ties to our region. It offered the guests a chance to delve into the life and legacy of the author of Nights and Days, providing them with a deeper appreciation of Kalisz’s cultural heritage.
The highlight of the visit was a commemorative meeting of the Kalisz City Council, where the delegations met the recipients of the city’s most prestigious honors and awards. This event was also an opportunity to celebrate the 35th anniversary of our twin-city partnerships with Preston (UK) and Kamianets Podilskyi (Ukraine).
During the visit, Mayor Krystian Kinastowski underscored the value of international partnerships in driving the growth of Kalisz. He highlighted collaborative projects that have brought mutual benefits to our city and its partners. The visit provided a platform to strengthen existing ties and discuss future joint initiatives aimed at fostering cultural, educational, and economic development.
