Got to know Jičin with ERASMUS

The second meeting of the educational project "Show me my city", financed by the ERASMUS + program, was held this time in Jičin, Czech Republic. The first one took place in November 2019 in Martin. The next one, scheduled for March in Kalisz, did not take place. The deadlines for previously planned activities had to be postponed due to the epidemic restrictions.

The second meeting at the Czech project partner was held from 8 to 12 September. Our city was represented by teachers from the Public Kindergarten No. 9 and the School and Kindergarten Complex No. 2 from Kalisz.
The representatives of Kalisz and Martin (Slovakia) had the opportunity to get to know the city of Jićin through the eyes of a child. They took part in physical and musical games with children, learned about regional dances and folk games. They participated in artistic activities, visited kindergartens, where they learned about other ways of working with children and shared their professional experiences with their friends from partner countries. Thanks to these activities, they could learn about regional history, culture, handicraft and traditions, cuisine, Czech language and national Czech fairy tales with the fairy tale about Rumcajs at the fore. As emphasized by Agnieszka Przybyłowska, head of the Public Kindergarten No. 9 in Kalisz, Jićin will remain in the memories as a fairy-tale place where Vaclav Ćtvrtek invented the characters of Rumcajs, Hanka and Cypisek. The permanent exhibition in Jićin is an interactive entertainment for both children and adults.

Due to the current situation, participants from Croatia could not leave the country and took part in the project only online. The latest technologies were of help both during visits to kindergartens, discussions on subsequent activities in the project, and official meetings.

Teachers from Kalisz also took part in the works of the jury in an art competition for children, showing the city of Jicin. The selected works will become part of the calendar that will be released at the end of the project.

During their stay, project participants met with representatives of the city of Jičín. The mayor of Jičin, Dr. Jan Malý, presented all participants with certificates. The head of the Education Department, Miroslav Kazda, and the head of the Education Budget Office, Hana Makovičkova, introduced the guests to the peculiarities of the Czech education system.

The third meeting is scheduled for March next year in our city.
