Hosting the delegates from our sister and friendship cities

In celebration of its City Day, Kalisz has been visited by representatives of sister and friendship cities: Hamm and Erfurt (Germany), Preston (UK), La Louvière (Belgium), Martin (Slovakia), Hautmont (France), Kamianets Podilskyi (Ukraine), Lovech (Bulgaria), and Gilbert (USA). From June 1 to 4, the guests will participate in a number of meetings and events and will also see the sights of Kalisz.

Two anniversaries are celebrated this year - 65 years of partnership with Hautmont and 25 years of partnership with La Louvière.

Friday began with an official meeting with the Mayor of the City of Kalisz, after which representatives of the sister cities had the opportunity to experience the multimedia exhibition in the Kalisz City Hall. The guests also toured secondary schools - the delegates from Hamm visited the Adam Asnyk High School, while the guests from Hautmont went to the Nicolaus Copernicus High School.

To mark the anniversary of the partnership, representatives of the City of Kalisz and Hautmont and La Louvière planted trees in Park Przyjaźni [The Friendship Park]. Afterwards, the participants visited the campus of The President Stanislaw Wojciechowski Calisia University.

In the evening, the invited guests will attend a ceremonial Session of the Kalisz City Council, whereas Saturday will be devoted to sightseeing, recreation, and the competitive spirit. The delegates will go to the Gravel Summer Sprint along the Swędrnia River valley, take a walk around Kalisz and attend the final match of the men’s Orlen Cup of Poland.
