In Hamm on the eve of the jubilee

On February 26th Hamm celebrated its City Day. Next year is the 30th anniversary of the official cooperation of Kalisz and Hamm.

Vice President Grzegorz Kulawinek and Zbigniew Włodarek, chairman of the Law, Public Order and Local Government Committee of the City Council of Kalisz took part in the traditional City Reception in the partner city. It always takes place on Ash Wednesday to commemorate the founding of the city of Hamm in 1226 and is devoted to a different topic each time.
This time the leitmotif was transport of the future, whose goal is primarily climate protection. The reception began with the memory of the victims of the recent attack in Hanau
and the lighting of candles in their intention by children from various nationalities.

Earlier, as part of meetings with the city mayor of Hamm Thomas Hunsteger-Petermann, and officials Uwe Sauerland and Horst Hülsmann, talks were held about the next joint projects
as well as next year's 30th anniversary of Kalisz's cooperation with Hamm and planned projects in this connection. During the conversation, proposals were made to exchange experiences of officials of both local governments, sports tournaments and exhibitions of Kalisz artists. Plans for further cooperation between music schools from Kalisz and Hamm were also discussed, which in 2019 implemented a two-sided project.
In turn, Karl Georg Steffens from the Department of Economic Support informed about previous contacts with the Kalisz Business Incubator and plans for the future.

The Kalisz representatives also visited Beisenkamp Gymnasium, which has recently made contact with the T. Kościuszko Second High School. The principal Andrea Behm presented the school, renovated and modern classrooms and presented the school's offer.
Representatives of Kalisz also met with Regina Schumacher-Goldner, Marlena Rometsch and Margarete Schaffranietz from the International Club Hamm, which coordinates the cooperation of NGOs from both cities, currently a nature and film lovers project.

About this year's International Football Tournament, organized by the Hamm Sports Association, in which Kalisz footballer will play, Vice President Grzegorz Kulawinek talked with Werner Schuht, club manager.

The guests also visited the Hindu temple of Sri Kamadchi Ampal, which showed Uli Kroker from the "Cultural Bridge Hamm-Kalisz" association around and the priest who looks after the temple. It is the largest temple of this type on the European continent, which is visited by 20,000 faithful from different countries every year.
