Kalisz artist in an international project

On Saturday, March 19, the studio set up in the former barbed wire factory in Leipzig became the venue for the artistic activities of young artists from Denmark, Hungary, Sweden, Poland and the USA. Among them was Ziemowit Fincek from Kalisz.

Ziemowit Fincek has been participating in the "PILOTENKUECHE" Artistic Residence Program in Leipzig since January, for which he was selected from among many young artists. In many ways, PILOTENKUECHE is an "international airport for artists" due to the city's affordability, proximity to Berlin, Amsterdam, Prague and Paris, and its dynamic independent culture. For several years, Leipzig has been an important point on the map of the art world, where alternative artistic practices and a bold strategy of promoting the city through cultural events converge.
A delegation from Kalisz went to Leipzig for the Saturday vernissage of the exhibition of young artists from Denmark, Hungary, Sweden, Poland and the United States "cozy concrete cable store": Grażyna Dziedziak, head of the Department of Culture and Art, Sports and Tourism, Joanna Dudek, director of the Jan Tarasin Art Gallery  and Maciej Garbowicz, representative of the Artistic and Program Council of the Jan Tarasin Art Gallery in Kalisz. In a completely renovated 465 m² studio located in an old barbed wire factory, they watched the effects of the creative work of the residents, participated in a performance and a concert. The aim of the PILOTENKUECHE project, in addition to providing artists with a base for work and action, is to build a wide network of communication between the local art scene, a network of galleries and institutions, as well as the artists themselves. The project connects selected artists from around the world with local participants, creating a common space for them that allows for experimentation, cooperation and discourse in an alternative environment of post-industrial spaces. Thanks to this, Leipzig lives with the energy of young people.
