La Louvière representative on a sentimental tour of the City Hall

On Tuesday, January 24th, mayor Krystian Kinastowski discussed Kalisz's ongoing cooperation with the Belgian town of La Louvière with Edward Janowski, an artist who has lived there for decades and is an Honorary Friend of Kalisz, and Piotr Maciejewski, a Kalisz runner who regularly represents our city in races held in La Louvière.

The nearly ninety-year-old Mr Janowski has visited Kalisz on many occasions. In 2002, his paintings were exhibited in the then Biuro Wystaw Artystycznych (Art Exhibitions Bureau), and one of his works, an impressively large painting, has been hanging on the wall of the deputy mayor Grzegorz Kulawinek’s office for several years.

The first relations between our cities were of a tourist and economic nature.
For 24 years Kalisz runners have been taking part in the June run in our sister city and for several years Belgian athletes have also been coming to Kalisz to compete in the Ptolemy International Street Run. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the cooperation agreement.
