Visitng the partner city of Hamm

Deputy Mayor Mateusz Podsadny and City Councillors Karolina Sadowska and Sławomir Lasiecki, represented Kalisz at this year's celebration of the Hamm City Festival. The traditional city event, which on May 16th brought together groups of people involved in the life of the city to commemorate its founding in 1226, was the most festive highlight of the visit to Hamm.

The two-day stay in the sister city included working sessions revolving on social issues. Discussions focused on policies for the elderly and for families.

The model apartment, which the delegation visited on the first day of their stay, presents innovative solutions to remove all architectural barriers and make everyday life easier for people with reduced mobility. The following day, a meeting was held on the city's work with senior citizens.

Another important topic was the pro-family policy that has been actively developed over the years. Hamm aims to become the most family-friendly city in Germany. To achieve this, new kindergartens are being built, older buildings are being renovated and there are plans to open an office offering all the services families need in one place, both in person and online.

The guests from Kalisz also visited one of the city's sports-focused kindergartens and several of the many playgrounds.
