Study visit to Iceland
The visit was divided into two parts: a one-day workshop with representatives of companies and institutions and two days of visits to geothermal heat facilities, clusters and resource parks.
The workshop was attended by, among others: representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate of Iceland, the Polish Ambassador to Iceland, representatives of the Ministry of Environment, the National Energy Agency of Iceland and representatives of companies and institutions utilising the thermal energy in Poland and Iceland. During the visits, among others, the following topics were covered:
- best practices in the use of geothermal energy provided by specialists from Iceland,
- leading policies and strategies for financing and implementing geothermal,
- the role of public administration for geothermal energy,
- environmental and climate benefits of geothermal district heating,
- engineering aspects of geothermal resources, exploitation, ground infrastructure, etc,
- best practices of geothermal district heating (management, engineering),
- economic and climate values of geothermal resource utilisation - resource parks, geothermal clusters, etc.
The ,,KeyGeothermal" project has received funding from the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme.
