Young people from La Louvière in Kalisz

On 23rd and 24th October, Kalisz hosted 20 young people from our Belgian twin town La Louvière.

The young people from Belgium came to Kalisz accompanied by their chaperones from the Youth Affairs Department of the City of La Louvière. The aim of the project was to show the history and present life in Poland with special emphasis on the multicultural character of our city. Kalisz was the second stop of their trip to Poland, after their visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim.

Our guests visited the multimedia exhibition in the Kalisz City Hall, which introduced them to the long history of our city and its transformation over the centuries. They were shown the oldest monuments of Kalisz as well as the revitalised Main Square. A visit to the G.J. Osiakowscy Museum provided an unusual glimpse into the everyday life of Kalisz's inhabitants, both modern and from the times past. To showcase the city's modern attractions, the guests were also invited to the the Kalisz Aquapark and saw the numerous Kalisz squirrels - symbols of the City Park.
