The Artistic Culture Center was established in 1987 and was a direct continuation of the initiative of the Group of Artists of the Society of Kalisz Lovers, who a few years earlier decided to organize the first exhibition here. Since then, the water tower, founded in the 1930s, apart from the characteristic block inscribed in the city's landscape, can be associated by all Kalisz residents with broadly understood artistic activities, from education through art and outdoor activities, to the presentation of the artistic achievements of artists from all possible fields and professions. At the City Council session from June 28, 2018, the Water Tower was named after Bogdan Jarecki.

The Water Tower Gallery today has over a dozen exhibitions a year, presenting a variety of art forms and artistic attitudes, the series "Pressure on music" and "Pressure on poetry", In the Lens competition, regular collective exhibitions presenting achievements of the artists of the Kalisz milieu and visual teachers of our region, as well as outdoors, artistic education, cooperation with partner cities and many other forms of promoting art in its various manifestations, present in our every day lives and on holidays.
