Wojciech Bogusławski Theatre

the city's theatrical traditions are connected with the "father of the national stage", Wojciech Bogusławski, who came to Kalisz with his group in 1800. The current theatre building, picturesquely located on the Prosna river at the edge of a historic park, is a neoclassical building from 1919-1936, erected according to the design of Czesław Przybylski. This Melpomene sanctuary is the fourth seat of the theatre in the history of the city. Kalisz Theatre Meetings – the Festival of Acting Art – have been held here since 1961.
